Censorship in anime is often more advanced compared to other forms of media due to the strict regulations and cultural norms in Japan. The country has a long history of censorship, dating back to the Edo period, and this has influenced the way content is regulated in modern times. Additionally, anime is a popular form of entertainment that reaches a wide audience, including children, so there is a greater emphasis on ensuring that the content is appropriate for all viewers. Finally, the industry itself has self-regulatory bodies, such as the Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization (BPO), that monitor and enforce censorship guidelines to maintain a certain standard of content. **
